How to Not Fall for the Guy Next Door by Meg Easton
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Sweet, heartwarming story. A trope of two people who met as kids for a couple of summers; then meet again thirteen years later, both having recent breakups. Loved the article list Addie found about how to know you’re not ready to date again if you don’t want to fall into a rebound. So, old friends catching up was one thing; a rebound relationship was to be avoided. Quirky, fun, easy to read, likeable characters.

Who are your favorite authors? How do you find them?
Author review copies, promos, and deal sites
Reading (or listening to an audio edition) is a favorite relaxing pastime. My usual genre is romance novels. I like happy endings! Hello… Some are sweet and clean; others have a bit more spice. It’s a good story and characters that draw me. I tend to enjoy the entrepreneurial element a bit, as well.
And if I’m doing dishes, I’m probably listening to an audio as I’m doing them. Hoopla digital library app is an awesome resource.
Our preferences, what we’re drawn to, is such a personal thing.
Because I wrote a book and worked with an author for several years, I learned about sites where authors can run promotions for their books. That led to discovering and trying out some of those book-deal sites as a reader. Whether reader or writer, check these out.
Bookbub.com has a Wish List feature and will notify you when one of your wish list items is on deal.
Authors offer free and deeply discounted deals as a way to get more reader reviews for their books. Reader reviews help readers choose books. And one thing we can do to help authors is to write a review of their book. I know reviews help me find better books for me.
Where to Post Reviews
Sites I usually post reviews to are Goodreads.com and Bookbub.com. There are others, of course. These two, though, don’t have ‘monetary purchase amount requirements’ to ‘qualify’ to write and post a review. Some of my reviews, for example, are books from Hoopla digital or other library borrows rather than purchases. Anywhere one can help support and promote authors whose work you love is greatly appreciated.
Author Book-promo tools
If you’re an author, even a new one, look at BookFunnel.com. There are so many more resources available, and indie authors are connecting and cross-promoting each other’s work. I’ve enjoyed ‘meeting’ several new authors through their work in this channel.
Another awesome author marketing tool is BookBrush.com. This one is all about visuals and message and creating. There are tutorials and templates to help. Don’t worry, Kathleen’s training videos make it look easy. Hopefully, this is fun stuff for you. And if this is totally not your thing, they have an ‘hourly concepts’ feature where you can affordably hire one of their creative partners for a project.
It’s a rainy night for a good book. Enjoy whatever you’re reading!
