Valentine’s Week RELATIONSHIPS Stage continues. Today’s Great Love is OURSELVES.
We’re conflicted about this one. Images of stuck-up stuffed shirts and hoity-toity airs come to mind; admonishments of thinking we’re better than anybody else; and the caustic challenge most of us heard from a parent or a pulpit: Just who do you think you are?
There’s a razor’s edge of being strong and confident, full-out who we are, shining our bright light beautifully–like a spring daffodil in stark contrast of its surroundings–and being judged, ridiculed, for it. Those images and admonishments, and ultimate challenge, intended to keep us in our place…at the age of 5 maybe; not now. Now is another day and time.
When she transformed into a butterfly, the caterpillars spoke not of her beauty but of her weirdness. They wanted her to change back into what she always had been. But she had wings. – Dean Jackson
Self-Love: Solo and in Relationship
Vivian Probst is a wonderful soul-sister friend who wrote a very personal-story called I Was a Yo-Yo Wife. In it she includes a brilliant, powerful section called Meology, a course they don’t teach in schools and that deeply affects our relationships–especially the one with Our SELF. She shares a Vow to Ourselves in there, and much else that applies whether solo or involved.
Somewhere, we bought into the social kool-aid idea that there is something wrong with us, that we’re not good enough simply being who we are, that we’ll never be good enough, that we have to be like somebody else to be loved or to attract the Great Love of our life.
Love Yourself First
Yes, it might take some play-acting to feel our way into Loving Ourselves and honestly showing up as who we really are. It’s okay; you’ll know when you’re getting closer. You can’t get it wrong; and you’ll see that looking back. Unconditionally Love Yourself. Be yourself. Trust yourself.
These lifetimes are amazing Playgrounds of exploring and self-discovery and divinely-timed relationships.
Re-center into your own beautiful light and beingness. Start here, today. Breathe-in deep awe at the incredible miracle you are, and exhale doubt; breathe-in deep appreciation and gratitude of you; exhale blessing and compassion on your always-evolving becoming.
Playtime
Pay attention to what you absolutely LOVE about yourself. Quirky, colorful, delightful. Write a rampage of appreciation. Be PLAYFUL … like this…or this — or whatever great tunes are playing in the background to inspire you today.
If you’re ready, courageous, lit from within, and want to speak you word, I’m hosting an open call-in Sunday night. Details and welcome.
Happy Valentine’s Week. Love always – Anne
